FORMER SOVIET UNION

Starting in 1988, TRANSTRADE, through its affiliate IBE International Corp., engaged in several barter transactions with the former Soviet Union. In exchange for assembled brick and ceramic tile factories, air and water pollution control systems, monitoring equipment, and spare parts, the Group received chemicals, metals, and primarily fertilizers.

Consequently, at that time the Group became one of the largest exporters of urea, methanol, ammonia, ammonium nitrate, ammonium sulfate, and other chemicals and fertilizers.

BULGARIA

Before the collapse of the Soviet Union, TRANSTRADE maintained a close relationship with the Bulgarian trading company Intercommerce. The Group played a pivotal role in balancing the Bilateral Trade and Payments Agreement account between Brazil and Bulgaria. It utilized the balances in favor of Brazil to offset freight payments owed to other countries, thereby enabling Brazil to continue its exports to Bulgaria despite the swing credit reaching its maximum limit.

STEAM COAL

TRANSTRADE’s affiliated company, International Brasil Export, successfully sold and shipped over 600,000 metric tons of bulk steam coal from Brazil to Italy and Denmark. This project was executed in collaboration with Companhia Auxiliar de Empresas Elétricas Brasileiras, the state-owned company responsible at that time for marketing Brazil’s coal production.

In the early 1990s, TRANSTRADE began importing Ukrainian steam coal for cement plants in Brazil, with imports of this product exceeding 300,000 tons.

FERTILIZERS

From 1998 to 2004, TRANSTRADE actively participated in the Brazilian fertilizer market, collaborating with major international suppliers and providing post-sale services, particularly concerning the collection of demurrage, a significant concern for international suppliers.

During this period, TRANSTRADE was honored to serve as the exclusive representative in Brazil for Fedcominvest Monaco S.A.M. (FEDCOM).
